The Cleopatra Approved Skincare Secret
Posted on 05 October 2016
If Cleopatra swears by a beauty trend, guess who else does? We do! From her perfectly lined eyes to her silky soft hair it’s hard not to take notes from such a notable beauty. Ok, so Cleopatra was known for soaking in a bath of milk, honey, and essential oils. These luxurious baths were said to have given the Egyptian ruler radiant and supple skin. Here’s how; the lactic acid in the milk actually acts as an exfoliant without having to scrub and irritate the skin. The acid helps loosen the bond that holds dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Once these dead cells are removed the skin looks brighter and feels softer. Milk is also known to boost moisture because of the fats and proteins it contains. Keep your skin extra hydrated by applying a thick moisturizer or cream after you rinse off to help lock in moisture. Milk is full of proteins, amino acids, lactic acid, and vitamins A, D, and E that all work together to help sooth irritated skin. This is great for sunburns, a poison oak irritation, or just dry skin.
All you have to do is pour ½ a cup of honey into the tub, a few drops of essential oils, and 2 cups of whole milk. Light some candles, channel your inner Cleoptra and relax!
